JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under limited supervision, provides supervision, organization and coordination of the City’s building permitting, plan review, occupational licenses and compliance functions.
EXAMPLES OF TASKS:
- Oversees the City’s permitting process; occupational licensing process; reviews submitted projects for code compliance; and discusses with design professionals, contractors, property owners and citizens regarding general and specific code related questions.
- Coordinates and supervises all the building development services employees. Responsible for scheduling and reviewing time-off request; assists in hiring, training, evaluations and discipline of employees.
- Attends Council meetings and various City Board meetings as needed; oversees various meetings with designers, property owners, and contractors to determine code compliance for proposed and ongoing projects; prepares City Council items as requested by supervisor.
- Assists with and assumes responsibilities as needed in other areas of the Building Development Division and Community Development Department as assigned.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED and five (5) years of experience in the Construction industry, with two (2) years minimum in a lead or supervisory level.
- Must have a valid Florida State Building Plans Examiner license with a minimum of three (3) years plans examining experience or be a licensed Architect or Engineer in Florida.
- Requires a valid Florida driver license.
- Work is usually sedentary; requires infrequent lifting and moving up to 30 pounds; requires occasional travel to other work-related sites inside and outside the City; and extensive use of office machines, including computers, and electronic and voice communications systems.
