Description
Under general direction, provides technical, general information and customer service duties related to building, development & fire permits or planning applications, serves the public at the front counter, calculates permit fees, coordinates & process permits and; performs related work as required.
Requirements
Experience and Education
To qualify for this classification, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities, and enable the individual to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
A typical combination is:
Experience
Two (2) years of general clerical experience equivalent to the Permit Technician classification in a private or public agency involved in regulatory function, permit processing, or a closely related field which has included heavy public contact.
Education
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade with emphasis in writing and grammar skills, statistical analysis, computers and business practices.
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid Driver’s License issued from the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
Certification by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Permit Technician is preferred and must be acquired prior to the completion of one year of employment.
