Job description:

Residential CAD Drafter Responsibilities

• Create detailed architectural and construction drawings for residential projects using CAD software

• Interpret and translate design concepts, sketches, and specifications into accurate technical drawings

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure plans meet client requirements and building codes

• Revise and update drawings based on feedback, design changes, or site conditions

• Prepare floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details for new homes, remodels, and additions

• Maintain organized project files and drawing documentation

• Assist in preparing permit and construction documents as needed

• Ensure all drawings comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations

• Coordinate with other team members to resolve design and drafting issues

• Support the design team with additional drafting or administrative tasks as required

Residential CAD Drafter Requirements

• Associate’s degree or certificate in Drafting, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

• Proficiency with CAD software (such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) AutoCAD Architecture experience would be a bonus

• Experience drafting residential construction documents preferred

• Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, specifications, and building codes

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawings

• Good organizational and time management skills

• Effective communication and teamwork abilities

• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

• Familiarity with local building codes and permitting processes is a plus

• Willingness to learn new software or drafting techniques as needed

• Portfolio of previous drafting work is a plus
